Plot summary[]
Girov confronts Cartariun in the temple. He uses the Bothan power of Jeswandi to strangle Cartariun, before killing him. He allows Dllr to live, so that he can see the demise of Rogue Squadron.
As Wedge and the other Rogues return from their scouting mission, Feylis informs Wedge of Girov's betrayal. The pair go to visit Herian and Hobbie, who are still recovering from their injuries. Herian tells Wedge about the music and her link to Dllr, telling him that Girov shot Dllr in the back and that Dllr believes the only solution is to destroy the temple. Wedge leaves to confront Girov's second-in-command, closely watched over by Tycho and Feylis. Girov's second-in-command assures Wedge he has his loyalty in coordinating a ground assault.
As they board their X-Wings, Nrin and Ibitsam wish each other luck in the coming battle. Wes reprimands Hobbie for walking on his leg so soon after his injury. The Rogues embark on Operation Temple Smash.
Inside the temple, Dllr communciates with Herian. Herian tells him he needs to leave the temple, but Dllr asserts he cannot, as only the Sith magic of the temple is keeping him alive.
In the sky, the Rogues face the irrukiine pilots, now in TIE Interceptors and controlled by Girov. They are a much deadlier force than when they were controlled by Cartariun. Meanwhile, Girov's second-in-command leads the Bothans' ground assault on the temple, fighting against the irrukiine.
Herian and Dllr come up with a plan to defeat Girov by introducing something into the battle he won't anticipate to overwhelm his mind. Herian takes Feylis' X-Wing into the battle. She is pursued by Girov's irrukiine pilots. At the same time, Plourr arrives with a unit of Z-95 Headhunters from Eiattu 6 to join the battle.
Meanwhile, inside the temple, Girov is struggling to control his irrukiine. Herian fires torpedoes into the temple, but they are not enough. Guided by Dllr through his thoughts, she flies the X-Wing inside the temple, triggering it to explode, killing both her and Dllr.
Following the battle, the Rogues and the Bothans return to their camp by the Starfaring. The Rogues are happy to see Plourr again, but mourn the losses of Dllr and Herian. As the squadron and the Starfaring fly away from Malrev IV, the Force ghosts of Herian and Dllr watch in silence.
