"Another script, Massassi, was in use by the warrior class of the Sith species, and appears etched on temple walls on Yavin 4; xenographologists have since confirmed that the Massassi alphabet has ties to the simplified component of High Sith writing."
―Doctor Milanda Vorgan, "The Written Word: A Brief Introduction to the Writing Systems of Galactic Basic"[1]

A xenographologist was a specialist that studied writing systems of the cultures of the galaxy. At some point by 38 ABY, xenographologists had confirmed that the alphabet used by[1] the Massassi, the Massassi-speaking[2] warrior class of the Sith species, was connected to the simplified component of the High Sith writing system. That fact was subsequently noted by the xenolinguist Doctor Milanda Vorgan in[1] her[3] 38 ABY publication "The Written Word: A Brief Introduction to the Writing Systems of Galactic Basic."[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Xenographologists were introduced in the article "The Written Word," which was authored by John Hazlett and published on StarWars.com Hyperspace on March 5, 2010.[1] The word "xenographologist" is a combination of the prefix "xeno-," meaning alien,[4] and "graphologist," denoting either someone who practices the study of handwriting or a researcher who studies writing systems.[5]
