Xerxian was a male[3] of Human or Sith pureblood descent[2] who held the title of Moff of the reconstituted Sith Empire. Xerxian was assigned to govern the planet Sullust sometime after it was captured by the Empire during the Great Galactic War with the Galactic Republic, but when Xerxian failed to put down a violent uprising among the native Sullustans[3] sometime between 3681 and 3640 BBY,[1] he was summoned to a private audience with Darth Marr, a member of the Empire's ruling Dark Council.[3]

After the meeting with the Sith Lord, Xerxian dictated a letter of resignation and shot himself, leaving many to believe that Marr had removed his mask and allowed Xerxian to view his supposedly ruined visage, thereby driving the man insane. [3]

Behind the scenes[]

Xerxian was introduced via mention in Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, a reference guide published in 2012.[3]

Notes and references[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 According to Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, Sullust was outside the Sith Empire's territories prior to their invasion of the galaxy in 3681 BBY. Since The Old Republic Encyclopedia also states the uprising on an Imperial-controlled Sullust had occurred by 3640 BBY, the event—in the aftermath of which Xerxian died—must have occurred sometime between 3681 and 3640 BBY.
  2. 2.0 2.1 Several Codex entries through Star Wars: The Old Republic, specifically "Alien Initiatives", "Executor Krannus", and "Commander Vergost", as well as the novel The Old Republic: Annihilation, establish that prior to the Battle of Ilum, the Sith Empire is exceedingly humanocentric, and the Imperial Military was composed almost entirely of Humans and non-Force-sensitive Sith purebloods. It is only in Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Hutt Cartel, after the Dark Council acknowledges that Darth Malgus's alliances with alien cultures would benefit the Empire, that aliens are permitted to become officers in the Imperial Military. Thus, Xerxian, an Imperial Moff who died before the Battle of Ilum, according to Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, can be assumed to be either Human or Sith pureblood.
