Xi group was a designator used for groups of Class-A[1] and Class-B cargo containers by the Galactic Empire, and Class-E[2] and Class-I cargo containers by the Alliance to Restore the Republic.[3]
The cargo containers of Xi group was part of an Imperial depot investigated by Rebel A-wing pilot Keyan Farlander during a Rebel operation to secure a grain supply after the evacuation of Yavin, who found that group Xi did not contain grain.[1]
Later, container group Xi formed part of a secret Imperial weapons research base developing shielding technology. Xi group was destroyed by Farlander, flying an A/SF-01 B-wing starfighter, and a Y-wing pilot.[1]
Hidden in an asteroid field, Xi group, composed of Class-A cargo containers Xi 1 and 2, were inspected by Farlander and had their contents ferried to the Mon Calamari Star Cruiser Stimsenj'kat by transport group Renhoek during an Imperial attack.[1]
During the Galactic Empire's hunt for defector to the Rebel Alliance Admiral Harkov after the Battle of Hoth, Class-E cargo container group Xi stored water at a Rebel supply station raided by the Imperial Mu Squadron of Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wing pilots,[2] Maarek Stele among them. In the crossfire between Imperial and Rebel forces, the cargo containers, including Xi 3, were destroyed.[4]
Three Class-B cargo containers of Xi group, carrying two TIE/D Defender prototypes each, were brought to Galactic Emperor Palpatine for inspection by cargo ferry group Sela.[2]
In a battle later simulated for the training of Imperial Missile Boat pilots, Xi group Class-I cargo containers around Rebel Deep Space Manufacturing Facility Organarms were destroyed by Missile Boat Mu 1.[3]
