"A small gift from Count Dooku. A delicacy. Take heart: the Yanthans who remove the venom sacs rarely make a mistake. And even if they do—it is said to be a good death."
―Asajj Ventress[2]

The Yanthans were beings from the Yantha system[1] who excised venom sacs from windsnakes, creatures native to the planet of Ploo II. The Yanthans were experts at this task and rarely erred, although doing so resulted in what they termed dying well. In 21 BBY, Separatist[2] Commander[3] Asajj Ventress presented the X'Ting criminal Trillot with two windsnakes that had had their venom sacs removed by Yanthans.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Yanthans received a passing mention in The Cestus Deception by Steven Barnes, released in 2004.[2]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Yantha appears to be one such case.
