A blue-bladed lightsaber was wielded by[1] the Quermian[3] Jedi Master of the Jedi Order, Yarael Poof.[1] It was powered by a kyber crystal.[2] Poof wielded his lightsaber with significant dexterity—thanks to his spineless anatomy[4]—and expert-level skill, though the height disparity between him and opponents rendered him impartial in resorting to its use.[3]
In 33 BBY,[5] Poof jokingly refused to brandish his lightsaber during a training session with fellow Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi and a group of younglings. During the Defense of Kwenn[3] later that year,[5] Poof used his lightsaber to help fight off pirate forces led by the pirate Zilastra.[3] In 12 BBY,[6] the Sith Lord Darth Vader had a vision in which he confronted numerous Jedi from his past, including Poof. In the vision, the apparition of Poof held his lightsaber as he was attacked and cut down by Vader.[7]
Behind the scenes[]
Yarael Poof's lightsaber was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in Star Wars Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to a Galaxy Far, Far Away, a reference book written by Tim Leong and released in 2017.[1] It first appeared—albeit via a vision—in the twenty-fifth issue of the 2017 comic series Star Wars: Darth Vader, which was written by Charles Soule, drawn by Giuseppe Camuncoli, and published by Marvel Comics[7] on December 19, 2018.[8] Poof's lightsaber originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity where it first appeared in the second issue of the comic series Jedi Council: Acts of War, written by Randy Stradley, drawn by Davidé Fabbri, and published by Dark Horse Comics[9] on July 19, 2000.[10]

In the panel of Darth Vader 25 depicting Darth Vader destroying a vision of Poof, the lightsaber is erroneously depicted with a green blade; earlier in the same issue, however, it is correctly depicted as blue.[7] A panel from the same issue[7]—drawn by Camuncoli and Daniele Orlandini—is shown, without color, in the comic compilation Star Wars: Darth Vader - Dark Lord of the Sith Vol. 2, published by Marvel Comics[11] on August 25, 2020.[12] It was later also included in the compilation Star Wars: Darth Vader by Charles Soule Omnibus, published again by Marvel Comics[13] and released on December 21, 2021.[14] Poof's lightsaber is again erroneously depicted as green on the cover of the first issue of the 2023 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight, which was released by Marvel as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[15] Phase III on October 4, 2023.[16] The issue's cover art was drawn by Phil Noto.[15]
Yarael Poof's lightsaber appears in the non-canon 2022 video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. In the game, it appears at Yarael Poof's hip when he is active as the playable character. When players perform their attack, Poof brandishes and ignites the lightsaber as his weapon.[17]
