Yavin 8 was a moon in orbit around the red gas giant Yavin Prime. It was one of twenty-six moons in its orbit, and one of three which supported life, including Yavin 4 and Yavin 13. When the Death Star exploded at the end of the Battle of Yavin in 0 ABY it lit up the sky allowing it to be seen from the surface of the moon. According to the cousin of a Quarren spacer who lived on Yavin 8, there was still debris from the destroyed station in the moon's atmosphere during 3 ABY. The spacer recounted these details to an engineer while in the Bestine Cantina on Tatooine.
