Yir Tangee was a planet in the Yir Tangee system of the Colonies. In 22 BBY, Senator Havriso Looruya was appointed to the Galactic Senate's Loyalist Committee—a committee to assist with the crisis of Separatists' attempts to secede from the Galactic Republic—as a representative of Yir Tangee. Looruya was discovered funding Separatist territories after being accused by Senator Onaconda Farr of the planet Rodia, leading to Looruya's stepping down from the committee.
Description[]
Yir Tangee was a planet[3] in the Yir Tangee system of the Northern Dependencies portion of the Colonies.[1]
History[]
In 22 BBY,[4] Supreme Chancellor Palpatine of the Galactic Republic formed the Loyalist Committee, a group of senators from the Galactic Senate to assist in negotiations for the crisis[2] caused by the Separatists' attempts to secede from the Republic.[5] Senator Havriso Looruya was appointed to the committee as a representative of Yir Tangee, a fact published in the CoCo District Edition of the forty-ninth issue of HoloNet News volume 531.[2]
Later that year,[6] Senator Onaconda Farr of[7] the planet[8] Rodia accused Looruya of funding Separatists on[7] the planets[9][10] Ando, Sy Myrth, and Sluis Van, which was confirmed by the Senate Bureau of Intelligence. Looruya and his legal consul provided no comment and isolated themselves at the Yir Tangee embassy. The accusations and Looruya's actions were documented in the fifty-fourth issue of the HoloNet News.[7] Looruya was criticized[11] and stepped down from his position,[8] which was thereafter filled by Farr, who was representing Rodia. Yir Tangee's replacement in the Loyalist Committee was reported in the next issue of the HoloNet News.[11]
A few years after the Galactic Empire's defeat on the Forest Moon of Endor[3] in 4 ABY,[12] the Ewok shaman Keoulkeech visited Salfur's Trading Post,[3] a landing platform operated by the Human Cobb Salfur.[13] While at the platform, Keoulkeech saw the Sudden Restoration,[3] a hospital ship created by members of the medically advanced Carosite species,[14] preparing medical supplies for the ravaged Yir Tangee. The shaman subsequently joined the medical frigate's journey to bring medical aid to worlds suffering from the Galactic Civil War.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
Yir Tangee was first mentioned in Heroes & Rogues, a 1995 roleplaying sourcebook written by Rick Stuart and Paul Sudlow for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Yir Tangee system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square L-8.[1]
