The Youngling Care Space Station was a large space station affiliated with the Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts. The Safari droid M1-RE, also known as Miree, was a specialized member of the Society who cared for and studied several young creatures and aliens on board the station. During Miree's interactions with younglings, she was recorded by the cam droid CAM-E, who broadcasted footage across the HoloNet and sent their findings back to the Society. Miree cared for several species of younglings on the station, including Wookiees, Ewoks, Ortolans, Hutts, Gungans, Jawas, Gamorreans, Rodians, loth-cats, rancors, tauntauns, and porgs. The outside of the station was mostly gray and orange, with rooms of various purposes and types.
Description[]
Operations[]
The Youngling Care Space Station was located somewhere in the galaxy, and utilized by the Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts,[3] known in short as the GCSE,[2] for the purposes of studying,[2] housing,[3] and caring[1] for the younglings of various sentient and non-sentient species in their care.[3]
Structure and Layout[]
The ship's main living space for the younglings, from which all other rooms were connected
The station itself had a orange and white hull, with one main thruster and at least five other smaller thrusters at the rear of the ship. From the back of the ship, was a long corridor leading to a large circular hub. The outside of the corridor had grey paneling on the sides. Three radar dishes sat on top of the connective segment of the hub and the corridor. The circular hub itself had a slight indent, leading into a large, half-circular window. The front of the ship had a black strip running across it, with several circular blue lights on the side.[3]
From the inside, the large window was implemented into the ceiling of a large central living area. Alongside the living area, the ship housed several other rooms intended to serve as a living space for the younglings aboard the space station. Besides the living room, the living spaces consisted of: a meditation and[3] napping room,[5] and a bathing room,[6] Additionally, the central room featured several doors to controlled environments inspired by known planets in the galaxy. These included a forest environment inspired by the[7] moon[8] Endor,[7] a snowy environment inspired by the[9] planet[10] Hoth,[9] a swamp environment inspired by the[11] planet[12] Naboo,[11] and a prarie environment inspired by the[13] planet[14] Lothal.[13]
Rooms[]
The meditation room of the Youngling Care Space Station
In the living room, was a orange seating centered around a pink carpet, on which a holotable sat. Behind the furniture were shelves[3] as well as a storage closet.[15] The rest of the room featured several art tables, eating tables, two red slides, a play area which could[16] or could not be filled with sand,[3] and a kitchen. Its walls had several pieces of hanging artwork, as well as several aquariums implemented into the walls itself.[16] A group of grey twin stairs led to an upper level with a large door and six hovering prams[17] which younglings could sleep in.[6] The bathing room featured a large bathtub, as well as cleaning products to bathe dirty younglings.[6] The meditation room had a large circular disk used for meditation, with seats for all younglings aboard and space for a caretaker in the middle. The room also featured hovering prams for resting purposes, as well as beds, additional storage, and purple lightning.[5]

The ship's Endor-themed environment had decorated forest walls, and a flowing waterfall. There were several fake trees with a treehouses, meant to emulate the huts of Ewok villages, as well as vines to swing from. Logs and rocks were strewn about off the room's main path.[7] The ship's Hoth-themed environment opened up from an ice cave entrance, and had a snowy wall backdrop. It contained a raceway themed after the technology used in the Alliance to Restore the Republic's Echo Base facility on Hoth during the Galactic Civil War.[9] The ship's Naboo-themed environment had jungle-themed walls and notably featured a swimming pool, as well as pool equipment. As decor, the room featured several models of the heads of statues[11] created by the Elders of Naboo.[18] The room also had a circular terrace built out of a tree.[11] The ship's Lothal-themed environment had a hilly, arid background. The room was filled with the grass found on Lothal, with many paths and small areas in between.[13]
History[]
HoloNet Videos with M1-RE[]
- "Aww. It's this little Ewok's first day at the Youngling Care Space Station."
- ―M1-RE, in the Ewok episode of her holovids
M1-RE, the host of the HoloNet videos aboard the Youngling Care Space Station
Sometime during or after 34 ABY,[4] the Safari droid SF-R3, known as Aree, was commissioned by the GCSE to produce a new educational program for the HoloNet.[19][20] After filming his show,[1] Aree asked his fellow Safari droid M1-RE, also known as Miree, to make an educational program showcasing how to take care of younglings from across the galaxy. Filmed by her cam droid CAM-E aboard the Youngling Care Space Station,[3] Miree dedicated twelve episodes to twelve different species of youngling, including: a Wookiee youngling,[3] an Ewok youngling,[7] three Jawa younglings,[15] a Rodian youngling,[16] a Gamorrean youngling,[5] a Huttlet,[6] a tauntaun youngling,[9] a rancor youngling,[17] many porg younglings,[21] an Ortolan youngling,[22] a Gungan youngling,[11] and a Loth-cat youngling.[13]
In the Wookiee episode, Miree taught the audience how to control a young Wookiee's temper.[3] In the Ewok episode, the safari droid helped the Ewok youngling get over its shyness by throwing a party.[7] In the Jawa episode, after the three Jawa younglings hid a bunch of the station's technological parts, Miree helped one of the Jawas find everything that they hid.[15] In the Rodian episode, Miree and the Rodian youngling got stuck together.[16] The Gamorrean episode featured Miree assisting the young Gamorrean after he lost his tooth.[5] In the Huttlet episode, Miree prepared the young Hutt for bedtime by bathing her and tucking her in.[6] The tauntaun episode featured a race between CAM-E and the tauntaun youngling in order to tire out the energetic tauntaun.[9] In the rancor episode, Miree fixed the youngling's favorite toy and taught the rancor how to play more gently.[17] In the porgs episode, Miree helped the porg younglings build a nest in the living room.[21] When the Ortolan youngling broke his walker during playtime, Miree and CAM-E helped calm his frustration by fixing it.[22] In the Gungan episode, Miree taught the young Gungan how to walk.[11] In the Loth-Cat episode, the last and final, plays with the Loth-Cat youngling in the Lothal-themed room.[13]
Ardis San Tekka's time aboard[]
- "After a short stint, I followed my heart to the GCSE. I took a position’ cataloguing data in the Youngling Care Space Station and attended zoology classes in the evenings."
- ―Ardis San Tekka, in the introduction of her personal bestiary
After the Battle of Exegol[2] in 35 ABY,[23] the San Tekka clan member Ardis San Tekka joined the GCSE. Stationed on the Youngling Care Space Station, San Tekka took an open position cataloguing data. She would go on to join the Creature Husbandry Team, and eventually became the organization's Director of Creature Cartography. In the introduction of her bestiary, written at some point during her tenure, Ardis San Tekka mentioned her time aboard the space station.[2]
Commanders and crew[]
The space station was operated by the Safari droid M1-RE,[3] as well as a number of sentient workers of the GCSE.[2]
