Zaloriis was a location inhabited by Zalorians.[1] Shortly before the Battle of Hoth[2] in the year 3 ABY,[3] a campaign[4] occurred on Zaloriis between the Zalorians and the Galactic Empire,[1] involving a revolt there.[5] The human male Maximilian Veers demonstrated his cunning, courage,[1] and leadership[2] in the campaign,[1] and won it for the Empire with the use of new tactics he developed.[5] The conflict on Zaloriis was one of several conflicts that led to Veers' eventual promotion to the rank of general in the Imperial Army,[1] and assignment to the Sith Lord Darth Vader's Death Squadron.[5] It was also mentioned in the Galactic Explorer's Guide published by Hondo Ohnaka after the Battle of Starkiller Base[4] in 34 BBY[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Zaloriis was first mentioned in canon in Adam Gidwitz's 2015 children's book So You Want to Be a Jedi?, a retelling of the[1] 1980[6] film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the barren and sandy planet Zaloriis was first mentioned in Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Prima's Official Strategy Guide by Steven L. Kent,[7]—released on November 7, 2001[8]—before appearing in the LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds,[9] released on November 11, 2001.[10] In the game, the player controls the Imperial Army, including Maximilian Veers, in the Galactic Empire campaign and must defeat a Rebel uprising.[9]
