Zaloriis was a location in the galaxy, inhabited by Zalorians. During the Imperial Era, when the galaxy was dominated by the Galactic Empire, and prior to the Battle of Hoth[1] in the year 3 ABY,[2] a campaign[3] occurred on Zaloriis between the Zalorians and the Empire,[1] involving a revolt there.[4] The human male Maximilian Veers demonstrated his cunning and courage in the campaign,[1] and won it for the Empire with the use of new tactics he developed.[4] The conflict on Zaloriis was one of several conflicts that led to Veers' eventual promotion to the rank of general in the Imperial Army,[1] and assignment to the Sith Lord Darth Vader's Death Squadron.[4]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Zaloriis was first mentioned in canon in Adam Gidwitz's 2015 children's book So You Want to Be a Jedi?, a retelling of the[1] 1980[5] film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.[1] It had previously appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity as a barren and sandy planet in the 2001 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, where the player controls the Imperial Army, including Maximilian Veers, in the Galactic Empire campaign and must defeat a Rebel uprising.[6]
