ZeHeth was a Mid Rim planet that was home to the sentient ZeHethbra species. The natives of ZeHeth lived in urban areas as well as in dens amid the roots of the planet's large trees. ZeHeth was a part of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars and became a member of the Galactic Empire afterward.

Description[]

ZeHeth was a terrestrial planet[4] located in the ZeHeth system, a part of the Dustig sector[2] in the Trailing Sectors portion of[3] the Mid Rim.[2] It was situated on the Hydian Way super-hyperroute, between the Malastare system and the Expansion Region's Pax system.[3] A temperate world,[4] ZeHeth had mountainous regions in its northern hemisphere.[5] The planet's flora included large trees.[4]

History[]

Between approximately 12,000 BBY and 11,000 BBY, ZeHeth was situated outside the borders of the Galactic Republic, constituting a part of the poorly-explored region known as Wild Space.[1] Space surrounding ZeHeth became explored between 8000 BBY and 5500 BBY, and the planet was a part of the Republic during the Clone Wars of 22 BBY19 BBY,[3] with the Republic's Seventeenth Sector Army being charged with defending ZeHeth's vicinity against the military forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the first campaigns of that conflict. By 17 BBY, ZeHeth fell within the borders of the Galactic Empire.[1]

Inhabitants[]

ZeHeth was the homeworld of the sentient ZeHethbra species, members of which communicated in the Zehethbra language. The ZeHethbra inhabited either ZeHeth's urban sprawls or rural dens constructed amid the roots of their homeworld's trees.[4] Due to their planet's varied ecosystems, the ZeHethbra developed at least eighty distinct cultural, racial, and ethnic groups,[6] with the ZeHethbra inhabiting ZeHeth's northern hemisphere commonly having brown- or red-colored fur and the natives of the planet's southern polar region being blue-white in color.[5] Around 25 ABY, the population of the ZeHeth system numbered between 500 million and one billion.[3] The ZeHethbra eventually traveled throughout the galaxy,[5] settling many other worlds[4] and becoming well-known as a species.[5]

Behind the scenes[]

ZeHeth was first mentioned in the 1994 The Last Command Sourcebook, written by Eric Trautmann for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[7] The name of the planet was consistently misspelled as "Zeheth" in the 2003 Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Roleplaying Game sourcebook Ultimate Alien Anthology.[4] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the ZeHeth system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square N-16.[3]
